Richie Supa's 'I Got This' Video Raises Awareness for Face The Music Foundation
There’s a certain willful arrogance and denial that comes with the term “I got this,” and after almost 30 years as a career songwriter and musician in the industry, Richie Supa has become all too familiar with it. In the video for his latest track “I Got This” via Recovery Unplugged Records, it becomes clear how important awareness and care are to those who may not see it in themselves.
“For 29 years I have heard the phrase ‘I got this’ in the rooms,” Supa tells Billboard. “It became evident that the idea of denial runs through the struggle of addiction and recovery, which was what inspired me...It is the struggle within and perspective that became the message of the song.”
Supa has written for the likes of Aerosmith and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora’s solo endeavors, along with features with P!nk, Mika, and his own solo career. He now serves as Director of Creative Recovery at Recovery Unplugged Treatment Center using his skills as a musician and experience as a recovering addict to reach out to the community and spread awareness for the existing drug epidemic in the country.
The video is the first in a series to promote the Face The Music Foundation, a nonprofit that provides aid and tools to recovering addicts without the means to stay clean. The video itself portrays these real-life scenarios where the various characters are stuck in a rut without any intervening force. It’s a solemn but realistic take that hit home to every member of the the crew, and their commitment to facing the serious dilemma head-on is palpable. Their work is yet another reminder that a difficult challenge can always get easier when you get through it together.
