Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Leon Bridges & More to Perform at 'Harvey Can't Mess With Texas' Benefit

Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt and many more will take part in the all-star Harvey Can't Mess with Texas: A Benefit Concert for Hurricane Harvey Relief show on Sept. 22 in Austin, Texas. The event will take place at the Frank Erwin Center from 7-11 p.m. ET and be broadcast on 11 Texas TEGNA stations and stream internationally on Strong from 9-10 p.m. CT.

Exclusive performances and collaborations will also include Leon Bridges, Lyle Lovett, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, Ryan Bingham, Ha*Ash, and other guests, as well as appearances by Matthew McConaughey, Dan Rather, Renée Zellweger, Luke Wilson, Austin Mayor Steve Adler, Houston Chief of Police Art Acevedo and more. The evening's musical director will be Charlie Sexton and Asleep at the Wheel will serve as the house band.

Tickets for the four- hour live concert will go on sale today (Sept. 13)  at 3:00 p.m. CT at, with prices ranging from $30-$199. TEGNA will air the show without commercial interruption across their 11 Texas stations, reaching more than 80% of the state. “We are proud to stand with Texas and present ‘Texas Strong’ across our stations,” said Dave Lougee, President and CEO of TEGNA in a statement. “The outpouring of support from the local community and communities across the nation is a testament to the spirit, grit and determination of the people of Texas. The event comes on the heels of Tuesday night's (Sept. 12) "Hand in Hand" telethon, which raised millions for hurricane relief in Florida and Texas that featured appearances from Justin Bieber, Usher, Blake Shelton, co-organizers Bun B and Scooter Braun, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Luis Fonsi, Miranda Lambert, Demi Lovato, Brad Paisley, Selena Gomez and many more.

The Harvey Can't Mess with Texas show will stream internationally during the broadcast hour on and Google will match the first $500,000 of donations through a pledge challenge. Volunteers from Google’s Austin office and TEGNA employees will staff the phone banks at select station locations across the state.
