'Destroyers of the Soft Life' is set to be released Sept. 29.

Southern underground rockers J. Roddy Walston & The Business are returning with Destroyers of the Soft Life, set to be released Sept. 29, the band announced Wednesday (Aug 16), sharing an early taste with the new track, "You Know Me Better."

“We had never been a band where we pretended that it’s 1965. Loud rock and roll music has become less relevant because it’s just been on a loop," lead singer Rod Walston said in a statement. "If there was any rule on this record, it was, let’s be a part of music right now. I want to be part of living music in this moment.”

The new album follows up 2013's Essential Tremors and marks the quartet's fourth studio album since forming in Baltimore in 2002. Walston welcomed his first child over the course of creating the album, which was recorded in a Richmond, Virginia, WWII-era bomb shelter that the band transformed into a recording studio.

That includes the lead single, "The Wanting," a rugged melody about a fractured father-son relationship that dropped in June. The new track "You Know Me Better" is co-produced by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Built To Spill, Father John Misty) and follows the group's raspy, anthem-like rock sound, hinging on an emotive chorus: "You know me better than I know myself/ I don't have to think/ I think it's just as well."
