The War on Drugs is releasing their fourth studio album, A Deeper Understanding on Aug. 25, and the indie rock band made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday night to promote the new album and perform their new single "Pain."

The slow, almost meditative performance didn't stray far from the band's past hits, such as "Best Night" off of Slave Ambient and "Taking the Farm" from Wagonwheel Blues, but the intensity of front man Adam Granduciel's vocals proved just as strong as ever on the outdoor stage for Kimmel's show.
