Ian Thornton

Ian Randall Thornton is literally and figuratively all-seeing on his latest single, “See You Through.” On a track inspired by the incomparable views of Lake Geneva and the Swiss countryside and written with the hopes of passing off some wisdom to his future daughter, Thornton has set his sights to the present and future.

"I was in the middle of writing this album about family and heritage, spending much of my travel time meditating on the concept, and in this moment I heard the lyrics and melody pop into my head,” Thornton tells Billboard. “I chose to write this song for the daughter that I hope to one day have, telling her how much she deserves, and instructing her to live un-jaded so she can fully experience the beauty of life."

“See You Through” is the third single from the Norfolk, Va. native’s upcoming debut full-length album Lineage, scheduled for independent release on Aug. 25. It builds on the Americana and folk roots from his previous singles “Who Are We” and “Do You Rise” with beautiful vocal and instrumental layering, solemn and thoughtful lyrics, and a rousing chorus. The song’s stoic themes are also given a heavier weight with the impressive, breathy power of Thornton’s voice.
