Hundreds of Linkin Park fans gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night (Aug. 6) to pay tribute to late LP singer Chester Bennington. The event, one of hundreds happening all over the nation and the world, came three weeks after Bennington, 41, was found hanged in his home in what officials deemed a suicide on July 20.

The fans waved their phones and candles in the air while performers played LP's songs at the event in Grand Park, according to KABC. A private service was held last week, but Sunday's gathering was the first time hometown fans were able to get together to officially honor the singer.

Sunday's event was one the first of more than 300 planned tributes to Bennington compiled in a Google Doc created by the LP Ambassadors and LP fans worldwide taking place all over the globe over the next few months.
