The team behind the YouTooCanWoo studio space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is celebrating their fifth anniversary by expanding in a big way. On Friday (June 30), the “Woo” community will begin doing business as their own record label of the same name. The occasion will be marked by a launch party that night at Rough Trade in Brooklyn, NY and the label’s first full-length LP release, Violet Sands’ Hotel.

The label builds on the tight-knit community’s collaborative and familial bonds starting with brothers David and Robert Perlick-Molinari serving as the label’s founder and leader of operations, respectively. Both are members of label signee French Horn Rebellion, while Robert has first-hand experience in the label department after founding Ensemble Records in 2014. YouTooCanWoo’s inception will also mark a merging of Perlick-Molinari’s label with the YTCW in-house production team.

YouTooCanWoo as a studio space has become a staple of the Brooklyn music scene for its part in projects by MGMT, The Knocks, St. Lucia, and many acts that have ended up on the first iteration of the label’s roster. Signees include French Horn Rebellion, Violet Sands, Deidre & the Dark, and Pink Flamingo Rhythm Revue. Every group is expected to make an appearance at the launch party at Rough Trade, with full sets from French Horn Rebellion and Violet Sands, in addition to guest appearances from Darwin Deez, Crush Club, Gibbz, PROM, LEFTI, and a DJ set by Conrad Clifton.

“We’re bringing together staples of the Brooklyn music scene to kick off the YouTooCanWoo label launch the right way,” Robert Perlick-Molinari says. “We want this new label to be a representation of what’s going on in this city, and to reflect truly positive collaborations within the industry.”

The idea of capturing the energy of New York City is reflected perfectly on "Start Low, Get High,” the latest track from Violet Sands’ Hotel, the label’s inaugural full-length release, which drops on Friday, June 30.

“‘Start Low…’ is a vignette of the metropolitan grind found in all cities: relentless routines and unending complexities that are inspiring and exhausting at the same time, and the push to meet the demands,” Violet Sands member Derek Muro tells Billboard. ”The combination of musical influences speaks to that timelessness of living in a city, where everywhere around you the past is inside the present.”

The track can be found before Friday’s wide release below.
