Run For Cover Records -- the Boston-based home of great bands like Pinegrove and Turnover -- has a new summer 2017 release to get amped about. It’s the sophomore LP from Scranton, Pennsylvania, punks Captain, We’re Sinking, and its lead track showcases the quartet’s knack for urgent, instantly-memorable rock songs.
“[‘Trying Year’] is about trying to come to grips with what the universe gives you, and continuing to push forward with the cards that are dealt,” singer/guitarist Bobby Barnett tells Billboard. Indeed, the new song's propelled by the tumult of young adulthood, but it's never a drag, because it's an absolute jam. Dueling guitars rev the engines towards a shout-along chorus that's every bit as cathartic as turning in the last exam.
“I was starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as school was concerned, but I also had a lot of things happening in my personal life that seemed to be caving in," Barnett continues. "I would walk around campus humming the chorus to myself and just laugh to myself. It was almost a feeling of, ‘Okay, well, what’s next?’”
