COIN Premieres Their Next Single 'Feeling': Listen

Zachary Gray

"'Feeling' is an 'example of creativity with limited resources'," explains Ryan Winnen -- the drummer of Nashville indie rock band COIN -- about their latest single.

"Feeling" plays as a euphoric jam that oozes a West Coast surfer vibe similar to the sounds of Walk the Moon.  On how the song came about, Winnen says, "I scribbled this sentence along with 'trying stuff is great' into one of those tiny, wildly overpriced notebooks at 1:19am on July 15th of last year. With little know-how, it was my first real try at songwriting. Oblivious to what I'd created, I sent my work in progress to Chase."

The quartet's vocalist and snyths player Chase Lawrence added, "This song was so instant and so real to me. It was a departure for us and very difficult to finish; but soon, Ryan's Garage Band demo would become our next single. We even kept his original vocal. Trying stuff is great." The group -- also featuring guitarist/vocalist Joe Memmel and bassist Zachary Dyke -- formed in 2013, and has toured with Betty Who and Passion Pit

"Feeling" comes from the Columbia Records group's upcoming sophomore LP, How Will You Know If You Never Try, scheduled for release on April 21. The band first promoted the album with the single "Malibu 1992."
