"It a true story about caring and compassion, which we need more of today."

Peter Frampton had a bit of an odd episode recently that became inspiration for his latest single, "I Saved a Bird Today."

The story behind the new track is about just as the title suggests: An American Coot flew into a window at Frampton's house in Nashville and it was up to the iconic rocker to come to its rescue. After the episode, Frampton called up his collaborator Gordon Kennedy and told him all about it, quickly inspiring a song.

After releasing "I Saved a Bird Today" earlier this month, now Frampton is sharing an acoustic video performance shot in his studio with Kennedy exclusively via Billboard

"This is how the song sounded as we were writing it," Frampton tells Billboard. "So much fun to play and I love that’s it a true story about caring and compassion, which we need more of today."

Frampton is also sharing a behind-the-scenes video where he explains the full story of how he saved the bird.

Earlier this month, Frampton kicked off a lengthy tour schedule of acoustic shows and concerts with the Steve Miller Band, spanning until Aug. 13 at the Ironstone Amphitheatre in Murphys, California.
