Father John Misty performs on Saturday Night Live on March 4, 2017.

Father John Misty is no priest. But the indie rocker—AKA Joshua Tillman—is a first-time musical guest on the March 4 episode of Saturday Night Live

The former Fleet Foxes drummer is releasing his third solo album, Pure Comedy, on April 7, 2017.

His first SNL tune was a satire about virtual reality called "Total Entertainment Forever," from the upcoming album. The second performance: the low-key title track, "Pure Comedy."

Pure Comedy is Father John Misty's first release since 2015's for-mature-audiences I Love You, Honeybear, a concept album about Tillman's own personal foibles and a long-form love letter to his wife, Emma.
