Michael Kiwanuka Cancels North American Tour Dates, Citing Vocal Issues
You’ll likely see Michael Kiwanuka’s Love & Hate getting some significant year-end accolades, but unfortunately, North American fans won’t be able to check out the British soul artist’s live show before 2016 closes out. On Wednesday (Nov. 30), Kiwanuka announced the axing of his remaining dates this year because of tonsillitis.
“Michael Kiwanuka regretfully announces the cancelation of his entire North American tour, tickets to be refunded at point of purchase,” an official statement reads. “He has vocal damage and has been diagnosed with tonsillitis and under doctor’s orders, is unable to perform.”
That run of shows would’ve started Wednesday night at New York’s Webster Hall. The 10-date run (full listing below) was set to conclude Dec. 14 in Dallas. For now, his 2017 itinerary -- a collection of Australian and U.K. shows beginning April 18 -- is still on.
Love & Hate, Kiwanuka’s sophomore album for Polydor Records, came out back on July 15. It earned Kiwanuka his first No. 1 album in the U.K. and has been nominated for BBC Radio 2's album of the year title.
