Waxploitation founder Jeff Antebi's decade-in-the-making "grown-up children's" book, Stories for Ways and Means, will feature original tales from 30 songwriters, including Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, My Morning Jacket singer Jim James, the Pixies' Frank Black and many others. The 350-page charity project will raise funds for three education-focused non-profits: Pencils of Promise, Room to Read and 826.
In addition to stories from Devendara Banhart, the Dead Weather's Alison Mosshart, Kathleen Hanna, Will Oldham, Gary Numan, Del the Funky Homosapean, Laura Marling, Gogol Bordello's Eugene Hutz, Matthew Dear, Elliphant, Alec Empire, Sera Cahoone, Gibby Haynes and John Vanderslice, the "literary mixtape" project will be accompanied by a series of short films with narration from Nick Offerman, Zach Galifianakis, Danny DeVito, Andre Royo, Joey Bada$$, Lauren Lapkus, Sarah Jones, Phil Lamarr, Lizzo and King Krule and work from 30 artists to accompany each story.
