Flaming Lips Share Dreamy New Psych Jam 'The Castle,' Announce 2017 Album

The Flaming Lips’ creative hot streak will continue into 2017, as the Wayne Coyne-led psych band has announced a new LP called Oczy Mlody for release Jan. 13.

They led off their first traditional, non-collaborative release since 2013 today (Oct. 21) by sharing a spaced-out trip-rocker called “The Castle.” The light-as-a-feather five-minute track opens with Coyne singing about a woman (comparing her eyes to butterflies and her smile to a rainbow), then musing on the song title:  “The castle can never be rebuilt again.”

Check it out below:

Oczy Mlody follows last year’s Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, which the Lips released in collaboration with the pop artist. The year before that, they released With a Little Help from My Fwends, a track-for-track cover of the BeatlesSgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, featuring guest spots from Miley Cyrus, Phantogram, Tegan and Sara, and many others. Cyrus returns on Oczy Mlody,

Below, find the album art and track listing for Oczy Mlody -- Polish for “young eyes,” in case you were wondering. It arrives via Warner Bros. Records, their label home since the early ‘90s.
