Coldplay Perform 'Pure Imagination' in Honor of Gene Wilder: Watch
Like the rest of us, Coldplay's hearts shrunk one size on Monday when they learned that comedy great Gene Wilder had died at age 83. But the band -- who perform tributes to Prince and David Bowie on an almost nightly basis on their current tour -- chose to remember the screen legend the way they know best: singing the song that Wilder turned into a classic.
During a stop at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Coldplay slipped an acoustic cover of the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory anthem "Pure Imagination" into their set.

The iconic song has been a favorite of rock and pop acts for year, with artists including Maroon 5, Fiona Apple, Oberhofer, Josh Groban and Jamie Cullum -- even Mariah Carey! -- all giving it their own spins.
