Independent artist Christopher the Conquered was preparing to play at WUWM Milwaukee Public Radio's Lake Effect performance studio on April 21 when the news broke that Prince had died. The Iowa musician decided to pay tribute to the icon by performing a rendition of Prince's composition "Nothing Compares 2 U."

Irish artist Sinead O'Connor made her commercial breakthrough with her recording of "Nothing Compares 2 U." It topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1990 and remained there for four weeks.

In an eerie coincidence, "Nothing Compares 2 U" began its reign on April 21 -- precisely 26 years before Prince died at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota. His version of the track reached No. 62 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 1994.
