Following the release of their fourth LP Dark Matter, metalcore band The Word Alive released the video for the single "Trapped" on Wednesday (March 23) exclusively on Billboard.

"While filming the music video for 'Trapped' with director Marcus Eden we knew instantly that it would be our favorite video to date," vocalist Telle Smith told Billboard. "It's able to capture a depth to our band and the meaning behind the song in a way we've never accomplished before."

According to Smith, the band filmed the video for "Trapped" just one day before filming their video for "Sellout," so it was a "long couple of days." Both videos almost entirely rely on lively performances from the band sprinkled with social commentary.

"'Trapped' is about the inescapability of our overthinking and progress-restricting behavior," Smith said. "We all have something we struggle with internally, and sometimes we have to realize our mind can be a strange dark place, and our own worst enemy."
