Peter Bjorn and John Share New Alt-Pop Jam, Announce Album With Superstar Producers

Peter Bjorn and John are back with their first album in five years. On Thursday (March 10), the Swedish trio premiered a new song called “What You Talking About?,” the initial sampling of a forthcoming LP called Breakin' Point.

And they’re coming back in style. “What You Talking About?” is an infectious pop nugget that bounces catchily along and twinkles in all the right corners. PB&J have been doing this for a while (they formed in 1999), and on the new album, they got some expert assists. According to Pitchfork, the album features collaborations from superstar producers Paul Epworth, Greg Kurstin and Emile Haynie.

If you need a one-sentence primer, here goes: Epworth has co-written Adele smashes like “Rolling in the Deep,” Haynie has produced some of Lana Del Rey’s best-known songs, and if you liked Greg Kurstin’s production on Tegan and Sara’s 2013 album Heartthrob, you’re likely in for a treat with Breakin’ Point.
