A Lemmy Kilmister Statue Is Coming to the Rainbow Bar & Grill

Lemmy Kilmister’s spirit will always be present at the Rainbow Bar & Grill. But just to make sure patrons of the legendary L.A. watering hole never forget the late Motörhead frontman, he’s getting a big ol’ statue, too.

Sunday (Feb. 7) the Rainbow announced local artist Travis Moore had been selected to construct a six-foot bronze Kilmister statue.

“This will be an amazing tribute to him and all the #‎Motorhead family out there around the world, who are helping raise the cash,” Moore said on Facebook yesterday.

Moore is referencing a YouCaring.com campaign that launched in accord with the Rainbow to raise money for the lifelike monument. As of publishing time, over 600 donors have raised over $16,000 towards the $19,900 goal.

Around the Sunset Strip, Moore is a fixture in the area’s live music and art. At California Rock News, you can check out his early models for the Lemmy statue. The YouCaring page says the statue will take between three and six months to complete, so expect to see Lemmy posted up at his old haunt before 2016 is up.

Kilmister died on Dec. 28 2015 at age 70. The entire Sunset Strip was set aside for Lemmy’s Jan. 9 memorial service at the Rainbow. Check out Billboard’s on-site coverage of Lemmy’s memorial
