Animal Collective, Best Coast & More Plan Voter Registration Drives on Upcoming Tours

Animal Collective, Best Coast, Jason Isbell and other musical acts will host voter registration drives on their 2016 tours.

Those groups, as well as Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Kurt Vile, Wavves, Cherub and Lucius have all teamed with the nonpartisan civic engagement nonprofit HeadCount to help build awareness of the upcoming presidential election and encourage youth votes. 

This year's presidential election marks the first time potential Millennial voters will outweigh Baby Boomers, Rolling Stone reports, with 15.5 million Americans aged 21 or younger now eligible to vote in their first presidential election.

HeadCount claims to have registered more than 300,000 voters since 2004 and includes Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead on its board of directors, as well as a number of other entertainment executives and musicians. 

Jay Z, Wilco, Phish, the Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Dave Matthews Band, the National, Pearl Jam and more have previously participated with the organization.
