Plain White T's Premiere 'American Nights' Video, 'School of Rock'-Style (Exclusive)
School of rock is in session. Plain White T’s’ seventh album American Nights dropped earlier this year, and for the title track’s video, frontman Tom Higgenson enlisted his 6-year old son as the leading man.
Lennon Higgenson is the star of the clip, fronting a grade-school version of PWT’s and falling in love along the way. Check out the video below, premiering exclusively via Billboard:
He looks pretty good in a leather jacket doesn’t he? Dad will probably start getting some calls from casting directors, if he hasn’t already. But hey, the rest of the little band and the rest of the class look right at home stuntin’ for the camera.
The video was directed by Pete Jones, a friend of Higgenson’s who won season one of HBO’s Project Greenlight and produced the popular Farrelly Brothers’ film Hall Pass.
"This video came together so effortlessly,” the Plain White T’s singer says. “Pete and I brainstormed for about 20 minutes and two weeks later, we shot it! Pete is such a smart and talented guy, and he really connected to the heart of the song. We actually shot it in Deerfield, Ill. at the school his kids go to.”
And the song has a special connection to him and Lennon:
“'American Nights' has been my son's favorite song since I wrote it a few years back. He used to ask me to sing it to him before bed every night. For him to star in the music video brings the whole meaning of the song full circle! I couldn't be more proud of my little guy!"
