Is “Thank God for Girls” the triumphant return of classic Weezer? Probably not! But now, without a record label, the free-agent rockers have plenty of freedom to do whatever they want, and boy oh boy are they doing it. What is it? Singing about girls and mixing it with Catholic imagery and cannolis.

The lyric video for the new single “Thank God for Girls” featured all of the above, and on Monday (Nov. 16), they premiered the music video, which contains more of the same.

The Scantron-directed video stars the band as leaders of a twisted evangelical congregation who are doing all they can to get into their parishioners’ pockets. Rivers Cuomo is the preacher and ringleader, and he gets his comeuppance in the end.

Earlier this month, Weezer shared the new song “Do You Wanna Get High?” to go alongside god and the cannoli.

“Thank God for Girls” currently sits at No. 17 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart
