Chris Cornell released his latest solo album, Higher Truth, back on Sept. 18. The rock veteran sat down with another genre mastermind -- filmmaker/writer extraordinaire Cameron Crowe -- to discuss some of his most personal lyrics.

The song in question is Cornell’s “Murderer of Blue Skies,” which Crowe calls, “the most loving anti-love song I can imagine.” Check out the video of their conversation below, premiering today (Nov. 16) exclusively via Billboard:

As it turns out, some of Cornell’s “Murderer” lyrics are autobiographical, and some aren’t. “I think being a sensitive kid who grows up in the world of adult relationships, my tendency has always been to allow myself to accept responsibility for everything,” Cornell says. “In some weird passive-aggressive way, like it’s all my fault.”
