Psych-Rockers Kuroma Premiere a Heavenly Breeders Cover

Athens, Ga. indie rock quartet Kuroma is releasing its new EP 20+ Centuries on Oct. 30, and Billboard is excited to premiere a kick-ass Breeders cover from the five-song set. It’s the first splash, you might say.

But no, it’s not “Cannonball.” Instead of going for the obvious single, Kuroma covered the Kim Deal-penned song "Divine Hammer," which features one of indie rock’s all-time best sexual metaphors.

Singer Hank Sullivant explains the choice:

"Last Splash is one of my very favorite albums. We chose to cover ‘Divine Hammer’ because it's so good. Even though it's straightforward it has a quality that's hard for me to describe. We've been playing it in our set all year."

Sullivant is also a touring guitarist in MGMT, for whom Kuroma’s James Richardson and Will Berman also play.

20+ Centuries follows Kuroma’s 2015 LP Kuromarama, both released on Votiv Music. Check out the EP's tracklisting below, along with one of Kuromarama’s highlights, “Love Is on the Way.” The band is rounded out by Simon O'Connor, also of Amazing Baby.
