Amidst his current acoustic tour supporting his new album Higher Truth, Chris Cornell stopped by Sirius XM to perform a stripped down cover of Prince's classic ballad "Nothing Compares 2 U."

The song was originally written by Prince for his funk band The Family but made popular with Sinéad O'Conner's version in 1990.

Though O'Conner's recording is far from maximalist, Cornell takes a less-is-more approach -- accompanied on his acoustic guitar by just one other guitar and a cello. He slowed it down too and relaxed some of O'Conner's in-your-face passion for a more casual tone, as his voice shines.
