Eric Clapton to Celebrate 70th Birthday With Two Shows at Madison Square Garden
Eric Clapton's 70th birthday is this May, and to celebrate, he's announced two shows at Madison Square Garden.
The concerts will also commemorate another anniversary: it's been 46 years since Eric Clapton first performed at the arena with Cream, opening the "new" MSG in 1968. Since then, Clapton has appeared at the storied venue 45 times -- more than any other place in the U.S.
On May 1 and 2, Clapton will take the stage at the Garden with all-star band members Paul Carrack, Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Sharon White, and Michelle John, as well as opening support from Andy Fairweather Low and the Low Riders. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 16 at 11 a.m ET to Chase cardholders, and to the general public on Friday, March 20 at 11 a.m. ET.
