The band teased a major announcement on Twitter yesterday (March 28), finally tweeting, "And now for our big news...we are excited to announce we will be performing on American Idol on 5th of April!!" with the hashtag #TheWantedOnIdol.

After debuting their sophomore album "Battleground" in the U.K., the Island Def Jam group made waves in the U.S. when "Glad You Came" was featured on the Feb. 21 episode of "Glee," soon breaking the record for highest-charting single by a British band since Take That's 1995 hit "Back for Good."

The "Idol" appearance will be followed by the April 24 release of the Wanted's self-titled debut, a seven-track EP arriving on Def Jam and complemented by a 10-song deluxe edition. "Battleground" -- certified gold and with two No. 1s on the U.K. chart -- will arrive stateside in the fall.
