The 51-year-old singer/actress clapped back at rumors of a split with the 45-year-old former MLB star last month in a cryptic video in which she referenced the flurry of news reports about her supposed breakup with A-Rod, which both stars denied at the time. Less than 24 hours after news broke in early March that the couple had reportedly split, they released a joint statement announcing that they intended to stay together."We are working through some things," they said in the statement, according to People.
The couple got engaged in March 2019 after two years of dating. Lopez is currently filming the movie Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic, where she posted a photo of herself cozying up to Rodriguez in late February. For the majority of the quarantine, the couple has spent time at home with their blended family, including her 13-year-old twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony and Rodriguez's teenage daughters with former wife Cynthia Scurtis.
Earlier this year, Lopez told Elle magazine that they had to push back their wedding twice due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. "We postponed the wedding twice. We had planned what we really, really wanted to do, [but] I don't know if we'll be able to re-create that," she said in the interview. "We canceled it, and since then we haven't really talked about it. There's no rush. We want to do it right when we can do it."
A spokesperson for Lopez could not be reached for additional comment at press time.
