Demi Lovato remembered her old friend Naya Rivera over the weekend (Dec. 13) with a throwback post honoring the time they fell in love on screen.

In an Instagram Story reposted by a fan, Lovato, 28, is hiking on a sunny day with the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" playing in the background and the message, "Miss You @NayaRivera" along with a pink heart emoji.

For Glee fans, the choice of song was significant because it alluded to a scene in the fifth season of the show in 2013 when Lovato's character Dani begins to fall in love with Rivera's Santana Lopez. Lovato's post came six months after 33-year-old Rivera's body was found in California's Lake Piru five days after she disappeared while swimming during a boat trip with her four-year-old son Josey.

"RIP Naya Rivera. I’ll forever cherish the opportunity to play your girlfriend on Glee," Lovato wrote on Instagram a day after Rivera's body was found along with a series of photos from their Glee arc. "The character you played was groundbreaking for tons of closeted queer girls (like me at the time) and open queer girls, and your ambition and accomplishments were inspiring to Latina women all over the world."

Rivera's ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Ventura County, California, on behalf of their son in November; the action also named the United Water Conservation District and Parks and Recreation Management for allegedly failing to warn visitors of the dangers of the lake and failure to outfit the boat with the required safety equipment.
