John Legend is joined onstage by his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and daughter while performing before Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) speaks at a drive-in election eve rally on Nov. 2, 2020 in Philadelphia.

Of course Chrissy trolled him about it.

John Legend was feeling a certain kind of way early Friday morning (Nov. 6) when Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden unexpectedly took the lead in Georgia, putting the former two-term Vice President that much closer to defeating President Trump. So of course Legend did what any EGOT-winning singer would do, he sang about it.

"He has been waiting to post this for 5 hours," Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen joked about John's tweet featuring his rendition of Ray Charles' ode to the Peach State: "Georgia On My Mind." The soothing rendition of the 1930 song written by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell that was made famous by Charles' 1960 rendition -- and which became the official state song in 1979 -- was just what the frazzled nation needed as the vote counting stretched into a third day.

Biden jumped into a nearly 1,000-vote lead over Trump in Georgia in the latest count, with Newsweek describing the news as dire for the Trump re-election effort. "The president's path to winning Georgia is now dwindling and he faces a very narrow path to securing his reelection without it," the magazine wrote just hours after ABC, CBS and NBC made the unprecedented decision to cut away from Trump's White House news conference on Thursday in which he made another series of false, inflammatory claims about the legal counting of votes.

Legend, who has been a vocal supporter of the Biden/Harris ticket, wasn't the only one celebrating the surprising news. Jason Isbell promised that if Biden was victorious in the state he would cut a tribute album to Georgia featuring songs from native sons and daughters such as R.E.M., Gladys Knight, Vic Chesnutt and the Allman Brothers, with all proceeds going to a good cause.
