More than six months after U.K. singer Charlotte Awbery lit up our lives with her impromptu viral cover of Lady Gaga's "Shallow" on the London Tube, the singer has finally released the official version.

The 31-year-old singer who went from an unknown to appearing on the Ellen show in February thanks to her soulful take on the 2019 A Star is Born hit, dropped the official studio version on Friday (Aug. 28) and it was definitely worth the wait.

Awbery's unexpected rise came after U.K. prankster Kevin Freshwater kicked off a "Finish the Lyrics" challenge by approaching unsuspecting passersby with a microphone in hand. While several participants couldn't or didn't want to play along, the online host was blown away after singer-songwriter Awbery was not only able to finish the lyrics to the Gaga/Bradley Cooper duet, but also lay down some impressive vocals.

"Wow you're really good! Keep goin'!" Freshwater said after hearing a surprised Awbery's gorgeous vocal tone on the song's first verse. She finished the tune and belted out the chorus with a smile, delighting her fellow commuters. Since then, she's jumped from 4,000 Instagram followers to more than 617,000, including such celebrity fans as Ariana Grande.
