Swifties Flip Over Taylor Swift's Surprise Album Announcement: 'There Are Still Good Things in 2020'

Taylor Swift announced her surprise eighth studio album, Folklore, with just one day's notice on Thursday (July 23), and promptly sent her army of Swifties into mass hysteria over the news.

"THE WAY WE ONLY ASKED FOR CRUEL SUMMER TO BE A SINGLE BUT SHE REALLY GAVE US A WHOLE ALBUM OH MY GOD WE DON'T DESERVE YOU TAYLOR," one fan tweeted, referencing Lover fan favorite track "Cruel Summer" while processing the news.

With the project arriving in the midst of the global pandemic, others were quick to point out just how much a new album from their idol would help them cope with the unprecedented challenges of 2020. "If there's anything I truly needed in quarantine, it's music from the one person who's gotten me through everything," one Swiftie wrote, while another proclaimed, "THERE ARE STILL GOOD THINGS IN 2020."

Folklore arrives less than a year after Swift's 2019 studio set, Lover, which included hit singles like the Brendon Urie-assisted "Me!" as well as Pride anthem "You Need to Calm Down," girl power sing-a-long "The Man" and the romantic title track.

The video for the new LP's first single, titled "Cardigan" will also drop at midnight.
