“I am honored to perform at the Dallas Cowboys halftime show and kick off The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign,” Goulding said in a press release. “With so many people in need, I believe it’s our duty to help, and I encourage everyone to donate to The Salvation Army. The money they raise during the Red Kettle Campaign will change lives for the better all year long.”
Charlotte Jones Anderson, executive vice president and chief brand officer for the Dallas Cowboys and former national advisory board chairperson for The Salvation Army, described in the release the Grammy award-nominated artist's "infectious energy and generous spirit" as fitting qualities to kick off this year's campaign.
The Red Kettle Campaign is the largest and longest-running fundraiser of its kind, running from Thanksgiving Day up until Christmas Eve since 1891. According to the release, it raised $147.2 million in 2018, when Meghan Trainor performed during halftime of the Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redskins game.
“For more than two decades, the Dallas Cowboys have been walking alongside The Salvation Army and fighting for those in need,” said Lt. Col. Ward Matthews, national spokesperson for The Salvation Army, in the release. “We are thankful for their continued support and look forward to a memorable kickoff performance from Ellie Goulding.”
