On Tuesday (Oct. 8), Riot Games unveiled “Phoenix,” the theme song for the 2019 League of Legends World Championship, and an accompanying video.

The bombastic track features vocals by Against The Current singer Chrissy Costanza and rising talent Cailin Russo. (Fun fact: prior to launching her own music career, Russo was best known for starring in the music videos for Justin Bieber’s Journals-era singles “Confident” and “All That Matters.”)

The action-packed music video for the song uses a hybrid of animation and live-action footage, with cameos from professional gamers Caps, Faker and Rookie. “So are you gonna die today or make it out alive?/ You gotta conquer the monster in your head and then you’ll fly/ Fly, phoenix, fly/ It’s time for a new empire/ Go bury your demons then tear down the ceiling/ Phoenix fly,” Costanza and Russo sing as the popular online video game’s characters battle each other against brightly-colored backdrops.

“Phoenix” follows the 2018 World Championship theme song “Rise” featuring The Glitch Mob, Mako and The Word Alive as well as viral smash “Pop/Stars” by virtual K-pop girl group K/DA.
