Kelly Clarkson performs Shawn Mendes' "If I Can't Have You" during Kellyoke on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Kelly Clarkson continued her impressive string of covers by opening the Thursday (Oct. 3) episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show with “If I Can’t Have You” by Shawn Mendes.

Wearing a bright green, floral-print dress, the talk show host immediately launched into the song’s belt-it-out chorus, delivering Mendes’ hook in her fluttering falsetto before changing up the melody of the first verse.

When her eponymous talk show premiered in September, Clarkson explained that opening each show with a cover was her way of making a comfortable entrance from behind the mic.

Other "Kellyoke" segments from this week included the powerhouse vocalist’s must-watch takes on Lizzo’s “Juice,” ‘90s classic “Walking On Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox and “Before He Cheats” by fellow American Idol champ Carrie Underwood.
