Taylor Swift Says She's 'Obviously Pro-Choice,' Criticizes Trump: 'He Thinks This Is an Autocracy'

After receiving a lot of backlash for staying silent during the 2016 presidential election, Taylor Swift is now speaking very loudly about her political views.

In a selected snippet of an interview with The Guardianwhich will run in full in their Saturday issue, Swift talks all things Donald Trump. “We’re a democracy -- at least, we’re supposed to be -- where you’re allowed to disagree, dissent, debate. I really think that he thinks this is an autocracy.”

She went on to explain that she was going through a hard time personally in 2016, with her mother battling cancer while also dealing with a high-profile feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

“I was just trying to protect my mental health -- not read the news very much, go cast my vote, tell people to vote. I just knew what I could handle and I knew what I couldn’t. I was literally about to break.”

According to The Guardian, her negative image in the public eye made her feel “just useless. And maybe even like a hindrance.” She added that she felt “really remorseful for not saying anything.” She also stated that she would have endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.

She went on to say that she's "obviously pro-choice," in reference to to the Tennessee lawmakers who were currently voting to impose a near-total abortion ban on the state.
