Earlier this month, Billboard asked fans who their favorite celebrity cat was. The choices were tough and included some pretty famous felines, like Taylor Swift's Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button, Miley Cyrus' Keke, and Katy Perry's Kitty Purry. There was one cat that won over everyone's hearts the most, though: Kesha's Mr. Peeps.

Kesha was so proud to receive the honor that she uploaded a video on Thursday (Aug. 15) to thank Billboard and her fans.

"Billboard, you really went above and beyond," the "Praying" singer said while surrounded by gold trophies, kitty sculptures, and actual cats. "He doesn't even know what to say to his fans, he's so grateful," she said on behalf of Mr. Peeps.

"It's a time like this that really makes you remember your humble beginnings," she continued. However, things got more serious when she decided to take a walk down memory lane and tell the story of how she rescued her contest-winning cat.

"He started in a garbage can outside of a strip club that was very trashy. He was down in the dumps, literally. Then I was walking by, leaving the strip club, and then my friend exclaimed, 'There's this beautiful cat in this garbage can!'"

Her drummer told her not to touch the cat, but she disregarded his concerns and dived right in to give Mr. Peeps the life he deserved. The rest is history.
