King Princess Announces Debut Album 'Cheap Queen': Listen to 'Prophet' Now

Vince Aung
King Princess

The eagerly anticipated debut album from King Princess, Cheap Queen, is due out in the fall on Zelig/Columbia Records. While no release date was announced for the first full-length from the queer pop icon, she premiered the third song from the effort on Friday (July 19), the slow-rolling, summery pop ballad "Prophet."

The breathy bop about romantic longing finds KP wistfully singing, "'Cause I can only think about you/ And what it's like to walk around you/ And why they like to talk about you/ 'Cause I can only think about you." It follows on the heels of previously released album tracks "Cheap Queen" and the "Useless Phrases" interlude. The album is the follow-up to KP's 2018 debut EP Make My Bed, which featured the breakthrough track "1950."

The singer also released the dates for a fall North American headline tour that will kick off Sept. 20 with a performance at the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas and will keep her on the road through a Feb. 14 gig at The Truman in Kansas City, Mo.
