10 Artists We'd Love to See Mark Ronson Collaborate With Next
If you don’t already know, Mark Ronson is one hell of a powerhouse producer. He’s the man who has helped create some of our favorite records, from Amy Winehouse’s legendary Back to Black, Lily Allen’s Alright, Still, and more recently, Lady Gaga’s Joanne. He's also helped pen hits with Adele, Bruno Mars, and Vampire Weekend, while releasing a handful of his own albums since 2003.
Now, the Grammy- and Golden Globe-winning artist/producer/songwriter is gearing up to release his next solo effort, Late Night Feelings, on June 26 via RCA Records. Described as a collection of “sad bangers,” every single released so far is truly just that. “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” featuring Miley Cyrus is an anthemic tune laced with guitar picking and country twang, “Find U Again” featuring Camila Cabello is boosted with his signature 1980s synths and Cabello’s sultry vocals, and the album’s title track, which features Lykke Li, is a melancholic tune that simultaneously feels like funk-influenced ecstacy. Additionally, “Don’t Leave Me Lonely” featuring Yebba is a soulful cut that’ll get your feet tapping.
All of these star-studded collaborations are getting us excited for the new album. But before it arrives, we thought it’d be fun to put together a list of some other vocalists Ronson should make a hit with next.
It’s been two years since Styles' solo debut, so he’s most certainly due for a new single. He is the ultimate cool English dude who has been owning the hell out of his solo journey, so why not experiment with a DJ/producer on a track? It seems like the two would have similar taste in the studio and with Styles’ rock-leaning vocals, it could make for a dynamic collaboration. Plus, the two even hit the DJ booth together at the Met Gala -- so we already know they have a good time together!
This is an obvious choice for two reasons. For One, Grande is the woman of the moment right now, so collaborting with her is likely at the top of every producer’s list. Secondly, her longtime friend Miley Cyrus teamed up with Ronson to perform a Grande-approved cover of “No Tears Left To Cry” not too long ago. So obviously, Ronson is a fan, Grande is a fan, everything is coming full circle... And this collab simply must happen.
We love Muna. The electro-pop trio is made up of three of the coolest women, which would naturally make for a dance track with some serious, bad ass attitude. And they also seem to be fans of inconsolable bops -- at least that’s what it seems like with their new single, “Number One Fan.”
In addition to Grande, Eilish is another star of the moment. She sky-rocketed to fame after the release of her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? -- which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 -- making her a collab goal for many producers. Her soft, whispery voice and silly sense of humor would also make for a dance track unlike any other. Maybe we can get a “my strange addiction: part 2” -- more samples of The Office, please!
Sivan is king of collaborations. He’s performed with Dua Lipa (who has performed with Ronson), Charli XCX, Grande, and Lauv and has absolutely nailed it every time. His sultry voice and lanky dance moves go perfectly with any catchy beat, so this one is a clear no-brainer. Sivan even teamed up with Lipa to nail a cover of Ronson and The Business Intl’s 2010 hit “Somebody To Love Me” back in 2016.
It’s no secret Halsey is a powerhouse vocalist. With the ground-shaking vocals on her latest single, “Nightmare,” plus her killer teamwork with mega-producer Benny Blanco on “Eastside,” there’s no question Halsey and Ronson would do some serious damage on a song together.
The queen of 80s pop-influenced infatuation, hands-down. Over-the-top, ecstatic love and affection is all she wants, and singing about it is her greatest power. The two should get together to create something as explosive and joyous as her solo material -- maybe with an extra danceable buzz, courtesy of the English producer.
This singer-songwriter has been in the industry for quite some time, penning hits for everyone from Selena Gomez to Britney Spears. She’s been praised by critics and fellow artists for being one of the best writers in the biz before going out on her own as a solo act in 2017. It’s clear that collaboration is her bread and butter, so it only makes sense to put her in a room with another hit-maker.
Who is another singer with a distinctive voice, making her perfect to take on the lead of the next big hit. She’s had several hits of her own and is currently riding off the heels of the release of her new album, Betty. The only thing she’s due for is some star-studded collaboration. Lights has been owning the indie pop world for over a decade now, but it wasn’t until recently that she teamed up with producer Felix Cartal to create the buoyant dance hit, “Love Me.” She incorporates a ton of electronics into her sound and even creates comic book characters to go along with it all, so it would be fantastic to see her merge her heroic world with Ronson’s.
