Louisiana soul-rock band Seratones is just trying to get familiar on “Gotta Get To Know Ya," the lead single from their upcoming sophomore album Power, announced today (May 23) exclusively on Billboard.
The five-piece from Shreveport locks into a delectable groove on their first offering in three years that feels equally expansive and polished for the band. The song’s immediate fuzzy bass crunch and raucous, head-nodding drums prove that they can still hang in the captivating garage-rock fray of their 2016 debut Get Gone, but there is a new depth to their compositions led by frontwoman A.J. Haynes’ stronger command of the band’s platform. “Gotta Get To Know Ya” is the perfect example: a soul bop that sounds like an unrequited love overture that actually doubles as a salve for climate change and it’s encroaching effects.
“We’re all at once frightened and entranced by nature,” Haynes tells Billboard. “There’s a parallel with romance somewhere in there, I’m sure. This song encapsulates my ever-lingering anxiety about global warming and my electric need to dance in order to escape said existential doom.”
