Shawn Mendes, "If I Can't Have You"

Shawn Mendes keeps the love flowing with "If I Can't Have You," his first solo release since his 2018 self-titled album.

The Canadian pop star dropped the new track at midnight (May 3) alongside a moody black and white video, which sees Mendes at his charming best at the mic, behind a grand piano and on a treadmill (really).

It's a sweet, sweet pop number, on which he sings, "I'm in Toronto and I got this view/But I might as well be in a hotel room, yeah/It doesn't matter 'cause I'm so consumed/Spending all my nights reading texts from you."

Mendes wrote the song with collaborators Scott Harris, Teddy Geiger and Nate Mercreau; he'll perform it for the first time on Saturday Night Live this Saturday (May 4).

The chart-topping star is currently enjoying the gap between the European and North America legs of his world tour.
