The Hot 100 hit gets a bilingual rework.
Ellie Goulding's new single "Close to Me" jumped to a new peak on the Hot 100 this week (No. 27) to give the singer-songwriter her highest-charting U.S. single since 2015, and a new K-pop remix might help it soar even higher.
The "Red Velvet Remix" of "Close to Me" was released on Friday, April 5, featuring Goulding, Diplo, and Red Velvet, with the Korean girl group taking the place of the song's original collaborator Swae Lee. Goulding's original vocals stays intact as Red Velvet's Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri deliver new lyrics in Korean and English. The result is a naturally smooth rework with both languages sounding right at home on the Diplo production.
Red Velvet showed their affection for their collaborator on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of them streaming their new song "with cutie @elliegoulding" and an emoji of two girls holding hands.
