Los Angeles-based artist Delacey has worked behind the scenes as a songwriter for the likes of Halsey (on the Hot 100-topping “Without Me”) and Zara Larsson, but she’s sparing no time to reveal her singular voice and style with “My Man,” her first release as a solo artist under a newly-inked signing with HITCO.
The gifted songwriter, born Brittany Amaradio, immediately distinguishes herself with the opening line, “Bitch don’t steal my man,” an unmistakable threat that Delacey twists into a tangled yet sympathetic plea with her disengaged inflection over the sparse, ethereal production.
Her poise amid the conflict exhibits a maturity and self-awareness beyond her 26 years as she deftly captures the competing vigilance and insecurities of a shaky relationship.
