Singer-songwriter Natalie Prass stopped by NPR’s intimate Tiny Desk for a color-coordinated performance of three tracks from her 2018 album The Future and the Past.

The Richmond, Va. native was accompanied by her band with matching cobalt blue uniforms, as they began with the danceable “Oh My,” the 12-track LP’s opener. “I can't believe the things I see/ Are we losing honey from the bees?/ How are we sinking from the heat?/ Are we losing forests for the trees?,” Prass sang.

She then brought up her backup vocalists and “amazing writers” Kenneka Cook and Angelica Garcia for the slower-tempo “Short Court Style.”

Prass concluded with “Hot for Mountain,” a bluesy tune about staying strong in the current U.S. political climate. Prass noted that the song is “a little off the beaten path, but, I don’t know, it’s my favorite.”
