Singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin and Alessia Cara released a stripped-down acoustic version of "Let Me Down Slowly" on Wednesday (Feb. 20). The duo’s flawless vocals fluidly intertwine for an updated version of the melancholic song.

The original version of "Let Me Down Slowly" became Benjamin's solo breakthrough hit last year. The track appears on Benjamin's 2018 mixtape, Narrated for You, and tells the story of his first relationship. “I wanted to talk about one moment where I felt especially vulnerable, which is something I don't think a lot of people talk about,” he told Billboard in November.

Then, he recruited Cara as a feature on the song in January, with the official collaboration video released on Feb. 6. The acoustic video comes just two weeks later, giving fans a new twist on the song.

The acoustic video features the two sitting down while Benjamin plays his guitar and Cara delivers smooth vocals. The song offers a certain level of raw vulnerability, while both singers effortlessly harmonize to each other's rhythms.
