Donny Osmond performs at Manchester Arena on Jan. 21, 2017 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Nearly 50 years since the release of his first solo effort, Donny Osmond is heading back to the booth to get the ball rolling with his 62nd album -- and he's clearly thrilled about it.

The entertainer opted to let his fans in on a "little secret" on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 6), and revealed that he's working on the follow-up to 2014's The Soundtrack Of My Life. (If this should take the shape of a solo release, it'll be Osmond's 18th solo album; he's also recorded full-length albums with Donny & Marie, his duo with sister Marie Osmond, and his quintet with his brothers, The Osmonds.)

The record is a compilation of notable covers, including cuts of Osmond's take on Michael Jackson's "Ben" and The Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road," and Osmond is eager to share his progress for his next album over the course of the coming months.

"I'll keep you posted throughout the year as I continue creating it, but I have a feeling you’re going to love it," he tweeted along with an illustration of himself wailing on a keytar.
