Bebe Rexha Reflects On Debut Album 'Expectations' & More Defining Moments of 2018: Watch

Bebe Rexha reminisces on 2018 as the year comes to a close, sitting down with Billboard to highlight some of her defining moments.

Musically, 2018 was a big year for Rexha. After years of collaborations, she released her debut album, Expectations. "I put so much blood, sweat and tears into it," she says. "I was always scared to release an album because I wanted it to be so great and I’m such a perfectionist. It was the first piece of work I put out that I was super proud of."

Her "Meant to Be" team-up with Florida Georgia Line skyrocketed to the top of the charts, spending 50 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. "I never thought I would have a pop country song, especially being a girl from New York City that grew up on hip-hop and pop music and dance music," she says. "But I think the best things in life are the most unexpected -- the reason I named my album Expectations. It came out of nowhere and I think what ‘Meant to Be’ has taught me is that there are no more boundaries in music and I don’t need to have boundaries to make great songs or have success."

Rexha also gets emotional while discussing her final memorable moment -- her Billboard cover. "I remember when I was younger, getting Billboard and going to the stores that would sell it with my mother, and looking through the pages and looking at the charts and always wanting to be in it."
