Maggie Rogers covered Taylor Swift’s 2006 single “Tim McGraw,” lending her voice to the ongoing Spotify Singles series on Wednesday (Dec. 12). She also re-recorded her recent hit “Light On” at Spotify Studios in New York City.

Rogers slowed down and stripped back Swift’s “Tim McGraw,” creating her own indie interpretation of the country hit. Rogers’ breathy vocals give the song a tender radiance as she sings over a soft, rippling beat. "This song is classic songwriting at its finest and has meant so much to me for the last 10 years," Rogers shared in an Instagram post, along with a hilarious picture of her face Photoshopped onto Swift's body.

Swift shared an Instagram story of her own, thanking Rogers for the cover and calling it "heavenly."

Rogers also stripped down her single “Light On,” favoring just an acoustic guitar and hushed piano, instead of the song’s original folktronica production. Rogers delivers the song’s lyrics with hushed intensity, as she sings the deeply personal song that is about the last two years of her life.

“Light On” is one of the 12-tracks that will be included on her major label debut Heard It in a Past Life, due out on Jan. 18. Rogers is currently on the road with Mumford & Sons, supporting the band on their Delta tour.
