Dounia Bosses Up on Sophomore EP 'The Avant Garden': Listen

Miranda Barnes

The intro is over and NYC's Dounia is officially bossin'. The Moroccan-born singer-songwriter is a brilliant spark on the modern R&B scene. Her moods are bedroom boilers, and her voice damn-near drowns you in confidence. She's a little bit street and a little bit sweet on her sophomore EP The Avant-Garden, and she's here to take the heads of wack wannabes.

The 10-track release runs smooth from start to finish and stands strong mostly on its own. There are only two features: one from Breakfast n Vegas and another from Kehlani, the latter of which, "Rich Girl Mood," served as a single. It doesn't take any additional star power to vibe, though. There's something so alluring about Dounia on her own, and she knows it.

Trap drums, acoustic guitars and that raspy whisper mingle into a fresh kind of edge. Light some candles and explore the depths of Dounia's The Avant-Garden below, out in full on EMPIRE Distribution.
