Camila Cabello Talks Fifth Harmony, Taylor Swift Tour & Boyfriend Matthew Hussey in 'Marie Claire' Interview

Camilla Cabello's nerdy, introverted side shines in her new interview with Marie Claire, in which she discussed Fifth Harmony, her boyfriend and touring with Taylor Swift

“Basically, there’s the me that I really am on the inside," Cabello tells the magazine. "Which is the nerdy one— the kind of introverted, shy one — and then there’s the sexy, overly confident one, doing great dance moves and being super sassy.”

Growing up in Miami with Cuban-Mexican parents has instilled a sense of family and intense work ethic in the singer. So much so, that despite her doctor's insistence, the 21-year-old finds it hard to take days off in-between tour dates. She is currently the opening act on Swift's Reputation Tour along with Charlie XCX, after touring on her own to promote her solo album, Camila. Cabello has also realized this year that "If I don’t take days off, I will actually die or collapse, so I’m trying not to go too crazy for the rest of the tour... It’s hard, though. I’m at this point in my life when I’m so happy, it’s hard to say no."

Cabello's infectious hit "Havana" won her both the Artist of the Year and Video of the Year awards at the 2018 MTV EMAs, in addition to picking up four American Music Award trophies recently, including New Artist of the Year.

After her controversial split from girl group Fifth Harmony in 2016, Cabello was able to express her vibrant individuality as she went on to collaborate on hits with Shawn Mendes, Machine Gun Kelly and more. When asked about whether she is on good terms with the other four group members, she confidently replied: “I saw Normani [Kordei] at the Billboard Awards... and I was like, 'You’re killing it, I’m so happy for you. I’m so excited to see what you do with your music, I just want you to know, I really hope we can all move on from everything, and I’m genuinely happy for the other girls, and I hope you tell them I wish you the best,’ And she was like, ‘I’m so proud of you.’ It felt like everything is totally fine.”

She also discussed her boyfriend for the first time in an interview, British relationship coach Matthew Hussey. “He’s so similar to me,” she says. “In person, we’re just weird and silly and stupid together. He makes me the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”

Cabello promises to continue providing the world with certified bops: "I feel like this has been the first year and a half of me getting to know myself, I have this confidence now that I haven’t had before," she says. "I know exactly who I am, and I know what I want to do and I’m just not ready to give up that voice for something else right now.”
